We will discuss methods to cultivate confidence in mathematical thinking, how to increase engagement in math lessons and how to avoid pitfalls that traditional classroom settings often create.
About:
My name is Nicholas Mele. I've been teaching mathematics of all levels for 35 years. I spent over 20 years in a CCSD High School classroom teaching every math class there is, from below Pre-Algebra to Advanced AP Calculus and IB Math. I also spent 10 years providing teacher training for CCSD math teachers. I spent two years overseas as a department coordinator for the Math Department of a private school.
For the past 12 years, I have owned and operated the Mathnasium centers in Henderson. I have learned as much about teaching in the past decade running Mathnasium as I did in the previous two decades being a classroom teacher. And I continue to learn more each day I work with the kids!
